Meet Our Doulas!

Katie and Allie have been supporting Corner Health clients during pregnancy and birth for over two years. With more than 1000 hours and 8 years combined labor and delivery experience, our doulas were trained through the DONA-certified Center for the Childbearing Year and are both pursuing careers in Midwifery.

What is a doula?

Birth doulas are labor support persons trained to provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support to women during labor and delivery.

What does a doula do?

Physical support: create a calm environment, assist with walking or water therapy, offer soothing touch
Emotional support: provide continuous presence throughout labor and delivery, offer encouragement and empathy
Informational support: suggest labor position to improve comfort, answer questions related to pregnancy, labor, breastfeeding, newborn care, make referrals as necessary

As your doula team:

  • We will meet with you several times before or after your prenatal visits at the Corner to discuss your birth preferences and any fears or concerns you may have.
  • For two weeks before and after your estimated due date, we are on-call 24/7 in order to support you during the birth of your baby.
  • When you go into labor, one of us will meet you at the hospital and provide continuous support until your baby arrives.
  • Once your baby arrives, our doulas provide support with bonding and breastfeeding while you are in the hospital.
