Congratulations to Lori Bennett, our Hometown Hero!

Congratulations to Lori Bennett, Corner Health Center's Family Nurse Practitioner.

Wednesday, April 10th, Lori was awarded the 2019 Hometown Health Hero Award by the Michigan Public Health Week Partnership.

Lori created the F-Sharp program for the Corner Health Center. F-Sharp stands for Family Shelter Health Assessment and Referral Program. Lori solely runs this program, working with Safe House, Alpha House, Ozone House and Staples Family Center to provide health assessments for teens and young adults who are experiencing homelessness, and refers them for ongoing medical health and mental health services. If they are between the ages of 12 and 25, she refers them to the Corner, and works in tandem with Packard Health for medical services to those outside the Corner's service age range.

The success of this program is due to Lori’s presence at the shelter agencies where they often go first to get assistance. In our most recent fiscal year, over 200 youth were seen, with 65% of those referred to the Corner showing up for their appointments.

Lori is most deserving of this award and we are so happy to have her working at the Corner and with the most vulnerable youth in Washtenaw County! Way to go!
