Support and Education are integrated into services provided at The Corner. These include:
Patient Assistance
Health Insurance Application Assistance: provides help to patients in completing applications for and compiling materials to apply for public health insurance including Medicaid/Healthy Kids, MiChild, and Plan First! Referrals are also made to Washtenaw Health Plan.
Patient Assistance Fund: helps young people pay for transportation to and from The Corner Health Center and hospital appointments; prescription drugs and emergency medical needs.
Food Pantry: offers non-perishable staples such as cereal, pasta, and canned goods free to all patients.
The Corner Store: An incentive program to increase use of prevention services. Clients are awarded points for accessing services. These are used to "purchase" items such as personal products, gift cards, baby clothes, books and educational toys. For The Corner Store wish list click here.
Support for Pregnant Women, Parents and Children
Maternal and Infant Health Program (MIHP): coordinated nursing, social work and nutrition services to eligible pregnant and postpartum women. Intensive services are available to families with substance abuse problems. To find out more about MIHP, click here.
Women, Infant and Children Supplemental Food Program (WIC): provides supplemental food to income qualified pregnant and postpartum women and their children. To find out more about our WIC program click here.
Lamaze classes: childbirth education by a certified Lamaze teacher.

Youth Programs
Pre- and Inter-conception Health Education: A March of Dimes-funded program where patients choose a topic of concern to discuss with a health educator such as: tobacco use, substance use, nutrition, exercise, exual health and stress. The goal is to empower women to make healthy decisions and demonstrate behavior modification through healthy lifestyle changes. Patients receive a $15 gift card as a thank-you for participating. Health Education Theater Troupe/Peer Education Program: performances by peer educators followed by educational workshops on issues of concern to teens. To find out more or to schedule a presentation click here.
