The Corner Health Center provides access to therapeutic, nutritional and contraceptive counseling as well as food and even toys and household essentials like car seats, diapers and cribs.
- Maternal Support Services are coordinated nursing, social work and nutrition services to eligible pregnant and postpartum women. Intensive services are available to families with substance abuse problems.
- Provides food coupons and nutrition education for low-income pregnant and parenting women and their babies.
- Promotes healthy eating habits, especially during pregnancy.
- Provides education for young parents about infant nutrition and feeding.
- Promotes breastfeeding.
- The Corner Health Center is the only teen health center in Michigan with a WIC program on site.
- Social workers coordinate with the medical team to provide crisis intervention and supportive counseling.
- Clients with long-term therapeutic needs are referred to appropriate outside agencies.
- Clients are awarded points for visits.
- Points are used to "purchase" necessities such as personal products, baby clothes, baby gates, cribs, mattresses, diapers, high chairs, car seats, children's toys, movie passes and restaurant coupons.
- Pays for cab fares to and from The Corner Health Center to facilitate well baby care examinations and immunizations.
- Pays for prescriptions and medical equipment, including Nebulizer Ultrasonic Machines for uninsured children with asthma.
- Pays for essential items like infant and toddler car seats, cribs and mattresses, and seasonal clothes and coats when they are unavailable in The Corner Store.
