Mom Power! is a parenting and attachment skills workshop for teen moms. “Like all parents, teen mothers face the many daily challenges of raising kids. But often they receive little support to continue their education and are left with fewer job options as a result.”
Mom Power! is a course that consists of ten classes offered free of charge to teen mothers who face multiple challenges in their efforts to be good parents. Each week has a different focus related to parenting and the mother’s emotional needs.
Topics Include:
- child development
- understanding past traumatic stress and its affects on parenting skills and mother/child bonding
- improving mental and physical health
- learning to connect and play with their children
Mom Power! participants receive:
- Free transportation (cab) or Gas reimbursement ($5 each session)
- A toy or book each week for their child
- $15 for every 3 groups attended and $15 when all 10 groups have been completed
- $20 each for pre- and post-group home visits
- Lunch at each session
- An experienced child care team to oversee the playroom during each session
