Mom Power! is a parenting and education skills program for young mothers.

This course consists of eight classes offered free of charge to young mothers who face many challenges in their efforts to be good parents. Each week has a different focus related to parenting, education and the needs of the child and the mother.

Topics Include:

  • Child development
  • The effects of past traumatic stress on parenting and bonding
  • Anger management
  • Self-medication and substance use
  • Improving mental and physical health
  • Learning to connect with and play with children
  • Mother/child bonding

Moms receive:

  • Free transportation
  • Childcare
  • A toy or a book each week for the child
  • $10 for each group attended and $15 when all eight sessions are completed ($95 total)
  • Lunch

Moms 18 or older who want to sign up for the class call (734) 232-0205

Child care is provided on site and children receive age-appropriate toys at each session.
