What is the Maternal, Infant Health Program (MIHP)?
The program's goal is to help women have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. It provides support, education and referrals to community agencies to women during and after pregnancy to help them get through this exciting and challenging time. MIHP is free to pregnant women with Medicaid. Our team consists of a nurse, nutritionist and case worker. Meetings are at regularly scheduled prenantal visits for patient convenience.
MIHP provides:
- Information about pregnancy and delivery
- counseling and support
- help in getting food and infant supplies, such as diapers
- transportation to medical appointments
- nutrition counseling
- education about breastfeeding
- help enrolling in childbirth education classes
