What is Maternal and Infant Health Program? (MIHP)
A nurse, nutritionist and social worker provide care to meet the special needs of each pregnant patient. The team provides education, counseling, and community referrals during and after pregnancy. These nine sessions usually happen during routine OB visits.
MIHP provides
- Information about pregnancy and delivery
- Counseling and support
- Help in getting food and infant supplies such as diapers and bottles
- Transportation to medical appointments
- Nutrition counseling
- Education about breastfeeding
- Parenting education
- Help enrolling in childbirth education classes
